Profile of Ningbo
Influential metropolis on the south wing of Yangtze River

Located on the shore of the East China Sea in the center of China coastline, Ningbo faces Shanghai across the magnificent Hangzhou Bay. It covers an area of 9,365 square kilometers, with a total population of over6.0 million. A transportation network of water, land and air has already been established with the deep-water port as the dominant role. From Ningbo to Shanghai, it takes about half an hour by plane, about an hour by speedboat, about three hours and a half by high-speed bus and about four hours by express train. The forthcoming Hangzhouwan Across-bay Bridge ranks longest in Asian which reduces the trip to two hours from Ningbo to Shanghai by bus.

Ningbo is a well-known coastal port city, having long been acclaimed as thriving commercial port and a shining pearl near the East Sea. Internal rivers and streams crisscross the city, from every perspective you can enjoy the beautiful sceneries of clean water. The Ningbo Port has shipping links with 493 ports in 83 countries and regions across the world. In 2003,it's cargo output capacity ranked second among all the major ports of the country.
Renowned historical city and excellent tourist city in China

Ningbo, the cradle of the 7,000-year-old Hemudu civilization, was a famous historical and cultural city. The long history of this time-honored city has left us a glorious treasure of culture and arts and an enormous number of scenic spots and historical sites. It is celebrated for its unique breathtaking cultural and natural beauty. There are 225 cultural spots that are cautiously protected, seven of which are under the State protection, such as Hemudu Culture Relics, Tianyi Pavilion -- the oldest extant library in China, Baoguo Temple -- the very ancient wooden-structured building in the southeast of China. Ningbo lies in the subtropical zone. It is blessed with an oceanic climate with four distinct seasons -- warm in summer and cool in winter. Its annual average temperature is 16 degrees centigrade.
